I've been thinking about it for some time, but this year I actually went to the Cambridge Folk Festival, and it was a total blast. The acts were outstanding - I loved the Proclaimers and Rufus Wainwright and Vent du Nord - all great acts - but the standout act for me was Kate Rusby! Unmissable!
My friend Steve Amos and I packed our guitars along in the hope of a late-night session or, if we were lucky, an open mic.
As it turns out, we managed to get playing on 3 open mic stages, largely thanks to Kevin at the Den and his lovely crew of folk. We played the Den, Stage 3, and The Hunter Club at Coldham's Common - where I managed to be the last act playing any official stage at the festival on Sunday night/Monday morning. Closing the Cambridge Folk Festival - I'll take that!! 😀
